Transcript Divas Review: Working as an Independent Contractor

Transcript Divas’ aim is to be an honest, reliable business, offering transcription at a good rate – not only for our clients but also for the contractors who make up the Diva team.

Transcription rates – how much do typists get paid?

Transcript Divas aim to provide very cost-effective transcription rates to clients, but at the same time, we offer our contractors excellent rates to work with us. Our project management/quality control/office systems/human resources/marketing and the like are super efficient, which means we can pass savings on to both our clients and our contractors.

The contractor rates we offer change depending on the service a client has ordered. Essentially, a more complicated project, or one with a short turnaround attracts a higher fee from the client, and consequently pays the contractor a higher rate.
Our rates for clients are here, and a recent range of rates for contractors is listed on our jobs page.

Quality – how good are our Divas?

We are the only transcription service to offer a 200% guarantee on quality and timelines, so we need the best contractors working with us.
You need to be on time, every time; high quality, always.
If you are not, we simply remove you from the contractor list, and no longer offer you work.

Do note, as a contractor, you do get the chance to either accept or decline a project offer before committing.
We don’t set up contractors to fail!

Divas are Independent Contractors

As an independent contractor (that is, self employed), you are not an employee.

Tax rules are quite strict about which is which, and we have to comply with them. Some transcription services like to float around in the grey zone and bend the rules, but we do not. UK tax law dictates how being an independent contractor is different to being an employee. The HMRC test is here for you to review.
